The temperature has plummeted. It is not often that the weather man gets it right, but this time he certainly has, he said cold, and cold is what it is!
As predicted, the cold has put even more strain on the agencies that work with the homeless.
The local news stations have all been running stories about the problem. In a nutshell, we have more people homeless than we have places to keep them warm, dry, and fed.
Every resource available is being used. The Mustard Seed has arranged with Calgary Transit to have a couple of buses that people can at least sit down and get warm in. The Drop-In is committed to using every inch of space we have to keep people warm and safe.
This bad weather is supposed to be with us for at least a week. A week is a lifetime if you are homeless and have no place to go.
I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that no one should die, but someone will.
